Open and print confirmations from WooCommerce orders
Authorized store staff can open or print the Basic PDF confirmation from WooCommerce’s Orders interface. Commerce Assistant provides order-specific controls rather than asking you to print the entire WordPress admin page.
From the WooCommerce Orders list
- Sign in with an account authorized to view the relevant order and use WooCommerce’s order administration actions.
- Open WooCommerce → Orders.
- Find the relevant order and look for the document/open and printer action icons supplied by Commerce Assistant.
- Use Open PDF to open the order confirmation or the Print action to open the dedicated print-focused view.
The exact icon label can differ according to the plugin admin language. These buttons are order-specific and are not displayed to an unauthorized user simply because an order exists.
From the order details screen
- Open the specific WooCommerce order.
- Locate the Documents box in the order sidebar.
- Check the order number shown with the confirmation.
- Choose Open PDF or Print.
The module registers that Documents box for supported legacy and HPOS WooCommerce order screens. Other extensions can provide separate document types; a Free order confirmation should not be mistaken for another plugin’s fiscal invoice or contract.
What the Print action actually does
The Print button opens a minimal page containing an authorized embedded PDF and a print control. The print action is meant to print the PDF confirmation, not the WordPress dashboard, admin sidebar or settings UI. If the operating system’s print dialog does not appear, use the provided fallback link to open the PDF directly and print it from the browser’s PDF viewer.
Do not rely on automatic browser printing being available in every device/browser combination. The official release’s tests covered the print page and its JavaScript flow, not every physical printer or native OS dialog.
Security and access
The PDF and print URLs are linked to an order and protected by logged-in user permissions and request tokens. An expired, copied or unauthorized link can be rejected. If the order is accessible to a different customer or operator only through some other role, do not bypass WooCommerce order authorization to make the button appear.
Troubleshooting
No controls? Confirm the plugin is active, you have suitable WooCommerce order permissions and you are viewing a supported order screen. PDF does not load? Check the order itself and review any server error or PDF rendering message; do not expose private order URLs publicly. Print dialog absent? Open the PDF first and use the browser print command.
