Configure Basic PDF order confirmations
Commerce Assistant Free includes an optional Basic PDF module that converts existing WooCommerce order details into a customer-readable order confirmation. It is an order document, not a tax invoice, fiscal receipt or complete legal distance-sales contract.
Before enabling it
Complete the key merchant information in the Setup Wizard, check your WooCommerce payment and shipping configuration, choose a supported document language and review the sample PDF. The content of a PDF reflects order and merchant data; wrong source information will produce an inaccurate confirmation.
Enable the module
- In WordPress administration, open Leanmerce → Commerce Assistant → Setup.
- Go to Step 6 — Documents (the step heading is translated into the selected plugin admin language).
- Enable Basic PDF if you intend to provide these confirmations.
- Select one existing eligible WooCommerce customer order email for the PDF attachment. The selection is separate from the customer-email setting shown in Step 5.
- Save the step. Read the on-screen delivery preview; do not assume the wizard itself sent any messages.
Commerce Assistant will only attach a Basic PDF when the module is enabled and WooCommerce sends the specific configured, supported email with a valid order context. A plugin can be configured without generating new messages at setup time.
Use the sample preview
Step 6 provides View PDF and Download sample actions and a preview-language selector populated from the enabled document languages. Open the sample and check labels, diacritics and general formatting. This sample is not a real sale and cannot replace reviewing an actual WooCommerce order confirmation.
The default Free renderer is included with the plugin; installing an external PDF library is not required to use the Free feature. Rendering may vary by fonts or browser PDF-viewer behavior, so verify the saved PDF bytes if the in-browser preview is blank.
Choose the document language
The Basic PDF uses the configured default document language unless an intentionally installed compatible language resolver changes that behavior. Selecting several enabled languages does not automatically translate each order into that buyer’s browser or WordPress locale. See Languages.
Check the real workflow
On a permitted test order, open WooCommerce → Orders and use the Documents panel to open the PDF. Confirm seller/customer details, products, order totals and the clear confirmation-only language. Where email delivery is configured, use a safe test email environment to verify a single attachment. Do not send synthetic orders to real customers.
If the PDF is unexpectedly missing, check that the module is enabled, the chosen email is enabled/eligible, and that the current order is a valid WooCommerce order. Review the Email attachments guide before editing WooCommerce notification settings.
