How customers download their own PDF confirmation

If the Basic PDF module is enabled, Commerce Assistant can offer an authenticated download link on a customer’s WooCommerce order-details page. Customers do not need a Leanmerce.com account to use it. They use the store’s existing WooCommerce My Account area.

Customer walkthrough

  1. Sign in to the store with the WooCommerce account associated with the order.
  2. Open My Account → Orders and select View for the order.
  3. On the order-details screen, find the Documents section.
  4. Select PDF order confirmation. The browser downloads the confirmation for that order.

The document remains a Basic order confirmation. It should show the order facts and merchant/customer details drawn from the associated WooCommerce order; it does not serve as a fiscal invoice or complete contract.

Why a link might be missing

The Documents section is conditional. The plugin must have its Basic PDF feature enabled; a supported WooCommerce order must be available; and the current user must be authorized for that order. Do not expect a download button for every visitor or for an order belonging to someone else.

Commerce Assistant intentionally checks ownership/authorization again when the download is requested. Seeing a link or knowing an order number is not enough to gain access.

Common errors

“Invalid order.” The requested order identifier may be malformed or not available through the request. Return to the order list and open the order through normal WooCommerce navigation.

“You are not allowed to download this document.” The current account is not authorized for the requested order, or the request was not valid. Confirm the customer is signed in under the correct WooCommerce account; do not forward a private download URL as a general public link.

“The Basic PDF order-confirmation module is disabled.” The merchant needs to review the Basic PDF settings; the customer cannot enable the module.

“The PDF could not be generated safely.” A document-generation error occurred. Store staff should use a privacy-safe diagnostic process rather than asking for passwords or sharing complete order data over an untrusted channel.

Guest orders and external account layouts

The current Free controller provides a link on the authenticated WooCommerce order view for the authorized user. It does not promise guest access to a private PDF solely by possessing an order ID or public URL. Custom My Account themes or other WooCommerce extensions may change visual placement; the authorization rules still apply.
