Requirements, installation and first access
Before installing Leanmerce Commerce Assistant, make sure your store meets the requirements of the publicly released Free 0.12.7 package. Install it as a WordPress plugin; there is no separate desktop application, command-line build or Leanmerce account needed for Free.
Supported requirements
| Component | Minimum listed in Free 0.12.7 |
|---|---|
| WordPress | 6.9 |
| PHP | 8.3 |
| WooCommerce | 10.8 (installed and active) |
| WooCommerce order storage | HPOS and legacy order storage workflows are supported in the tested scope |
| Checkout | Classic and WooCommerce Blocks are covered in Free testing |
The plugin header declares WooCommerce as a required plugin and identifies WooCommerce 11.1 as the tested-up-to line for this release. Hosting and additional plugins can still affect a site’s environment; the listed versions are not a blanket guarantee for every configuration.
Install from WordPress.org
- Sign in to WordPress with an account allowed to install and activate plugins.
- Confirm that WooCommerce is already installed, active and meets the minimum version.
- Open Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for Leanmerce Commerce Assistant, published by leanmerce. Confirm the plugin identity before installing.
- Install and activate the Free plugin. Its WordPress.org URL is wordpress.org/plugins/leanmerce-commerce-assistant.
- Open the shared Leanmerce menu in WordPress administration and select Commerce Assistant.
- Use the internal Setup tab, then follow the seven-step wizard.
If Commerce Assistant is the first Leanmerce product, it can create the shared Leanmerce umbrella menu. If other Leanmerce plugins are present, it belongs below the same umbrella rather than creating a second top-level menu. The plugin uses one visible Commerce Assistant submenu entry and internal tabs for its own pages.
What you should see
The plugin’s Dashboard links to the Setup Wizard and displays the most recent Audit result or a message that the Audit has not yet been run. The internal navigation provides Dashboard, Setup and Tools to authorized users; labels can vary with the selected plugin admin language.
A Shop Manager may have access to permitted diagnostic tools without permission to change the merchant’s setup. This is intentional. Access to an administration page is not implied merely by being logged into WordPress.
Existing older installations: do not simply activate both
Older commerce-assistant or leanmerce-commerce-compliance installations have different WordPress plugin identities. A directory rename is not a normal update. If one of those versions is in use, do not activate both Free identities at once or uninstall the old one as a troubleshooting shortcut. Follow the controlled migration guide and obtain a tested transition procedure for your site. Any existing Pro add-on must be separately checked for its new dependency before reactivation.
Verify the installation
Open Leanmerce → Commerce Assistant → Setup, confirm the wizard appears, and examine the detected WooCommerce version, order storage and checkout information in its first step. If WooCommerce is missing or too old, resolve that dependency before proceeding.
