Email attachments and delivery behavior

Commerce Assistant Free can attach one Basic PDF order confirmation to a selected eligible WooCommerce customer email. It does not build a second mail transport or send a special email immediately after you save the wizard.

Choose the intended email

  1. Open Leanmerce → Commerce Assistant → Setup.
  2. Review Step 5 — Payment and delivery to confirm your WooCommerce email and delivery context.
  3. In Step 6 — Documents, enable Basic PDF and choose the customer order email for the attachment.
  4. Save the step, then test a suitable synthetic WooCommerce order in an authorized non-production environment or controlled mail setup.

Supported built-in customer order emails in the current Free code are Processing order, Completed order, and On-hold order. They must be enabled in WooCommerce for the configured trigger. Other custom WooCommerce emails are not automatically supported: an integration must explicitly opt in and attest that its email is customer-facing and order-document compatible.

What triggers the attachment

When WooCommerce assembles the selected customer email, Commerce Assistant checks the selected email identifier, the order context, whether the module is enabled and whether that email is eligible. It then generates a PDF and supplies a restricted temporary attachment to WooCommerce. It does not attach the document to unrelated admin, password-reset or arbitrary marketing messages.

Within an applicable request, the attachment path is reused rather than repeatedly adding the same PDF to the same email/order combination. If a separate compatible Pro workflow explicitly suppresses the Free confirmation, the Free attachment can be omitted to avoid duplication. Pro is Coming soon and not needed for the Free feature to work.

Test delivery safely

Use an authorized test order and a mailbox or local SMTP sink intended for testing. Verify that exactly the intended WooCommerce email includes a readable PDF and that an unrelated customer email is unaffected. Keep customer information private; never post a real customer’s PDF or entire MIME message in a public support ticket.

Remember that a successful local attachment test confirms assembly and hand-off to the configured mail transport; it does not guarantee delivery to every external provider or recipient mailbox.

Troubleshooting

If the email arrived without a PDF, confirm that Basic PDF is enabled, the selected email is one of the supported/explicitly opted-in order notifications, the WooCommerce email itself is enabled, and the email was generated for an actual order object. Review WooCommerce email settings and the site’s mail transport independently.

If no email arrived at all, troubleshoot WooCommerce’s mail delivery and SMTP configuration first; Commerce Assistant is not a full email delivery service.
